“But Jesus called for them and said,
‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them;
for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.
Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God
as a little child will never enter it.”
Luke 18:16-17
“Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child’s earliest years. This already happens when
family members help one another to grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel.
Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith.
Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God.
The parish is the Eucharistic community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families;
it is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church #2226
Our mission here at St. Charles is to aid the parents/guardians of our students in helping them learn the faith and explore how to live it in their lives. This comes from a dedicated faith filled group of parish volunteers who give of their time and talent to help our students understand what being Catholic is all about and what we believe.
Faith formation for students in grades 1-8: Classes are in a split-level format and are scheduled approximately every other week from August to May and take place on Sunday mornings from 8:30 until 9:45 in St. Charles School. Education for students in grades 1 and 2 includes preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. We use the Faith and Life book series from Ignatius Press which draws from scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Catholic culture and art to teach the faith. This year we are going to dive more deeply into the Catechism and what it teaches about our Catholic beliefs. Not only do we help the children learn to apply what they learn into their lives outside of our classroom, we also teach about current and upcoming holy days, liturgical seasons, and celebrations of our Faith.
The registration fee for each student is $70.
